Nigeria To Send Police Officers To Pakistan For Tailoring Training

The Nigerian Police has revealed that it will be sending some of its officers to Pakistan on a training to learn how to make police uniforms.
Speaking with journalist on Monday, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Shogunle, said after the training, these officers will be expected to take charge of the production of the police uniforms on their return to Nigeria when the equipment to work with are made available.

According to Mr. Shogunle, this idea came after the Inspector General of Police saw the need to phase out the conventional black and black police uniform to a better, blue uniform for police officers and Pakistan was selected because it is known for best prints for all kinds of security kits.
He said that there was no set date yet for the phase out of the black police uniform.
Mr. Shogunle said that the complete uniforms will be issued free of charge to officers from the rank of Constable to Inspector, while senior officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP and above will pay a token for their uniforms, though he did not reveal how much will be paid by the senior officers and how many pairs each person was expected to receive, saying it was for security reasons.
He however noted that the required samples of the uniforms have already been sent to some industries in Pakistan and once the samples are returned and corrections made, they would begin a mass production of the new uniforms.
