A statement by the Acting Director of Information of the National Judicial Council (NJC), said the appointment is in line with the recommendation of the NJC, chaired by Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar.
“The Appointment is in line with the new Court of Appeal (Amendment) Act which increased the number of Justices of the Court from Seventy (70) to Ninety (90) and the vacancies which were occasioned by the demise, retirement and elevation of some Justices of the Court to the Supreme Court”, Mr. Soji Oye.
“The Justices will be sworn-in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria & Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Hon. Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, on Monday, 24th March, 2014 at 12 noon in the Supreme Court of Nigeria”.
The newly appointed justices are:
1. Justice Hamma Akawu Barka – Gombe State
2. Justice Joseph Jude Jella – Taraba State
3. Justice Bitrus G. Sanga – Bauchi State
4. Justice Muhammed Mustapha – Borno State
5. Justice Yargata Nimpar – Gombe State
6. Justice Sa’idu Tanko Hussein – Kogi State
7. Justice Mudashiru N. Oniyangi – Kwara State
8. Justice Amina Audi Wambai – Niger State
9. Justice Ridwan Maiwada Abdullahi – Nasarawa State
10. Justice Tani Y. Hassan – Kano State
11 . Justice Muhammed Lawal Shuaibu – Jigawa State
12 . Kadi Musa Hassan Alkali – Kaduna State
