An official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority,
LASTMA, lost consciousness after being knocked by a Mobile Policeman,
MOPOL on Wednesday.

The
Mobile Policemen attacked three LASTMA officials who were carrying out
their legitimate duties on Ashabi Cole Street, off Lateef Jakande Road,
Agidingbi, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, at about 3:13 p.m., leaving
one of the victims unconscious and rushed to a hospital.
The
incident happened when the policemen guarding a bank located, prevented
the LASTMA officials from towing away the bank customer’s parked car
that was causing obstruction on Ashabi Cole Street.
The policeman did not allow the vehicle to be removed as the car owner was inside the bank.
During the argument one of the police officers used the butt of his gun to hit a LASTMA official repeatedly on the head.
As a result of the attack LASTMA official collapsed and became unconscious.
When
the other LASTMA officials tried to rescue their colleague, the
policemen started shooting in the air to scare people around.
Being
asked about the incident and the fate of his injured colleague, the
leader of the LASTMA team said the victim was receiving treatment in an
undisclosed hospital.
The victim's identity has not been disclosed
and efforts to speak to the police officer involved in the incident
proved abortive.
