8,000 Zamfara Women Protest Scarcity of Husbands

Hmmm…this one na real gobe o! You remember that a few weeks ago, the National Council of Catholic Women Organization of Nigeria cried out that over the next 10 years, Nigerian ladies will find it quite difficult to marry as there is a plunge in the number of quality Nigerian men for husbands. That is the word they used ‘quality’. Anyways, a drama played out itself in Northern Nigerian state of Zamfara TODAY when not less than 8,000 women trooped out and marched to the Zamfara Hisbah Commission.

They were not there to protest fuel subsidy o (GEJ no go wan play ludo again na) but they were there to pour out their hearts to the government over the scarcity of husbands (Shooo! Nigerian men, where una dey na? Still analyzing Barca matches?). The massive protest was led Hajia Suwaiba Isa, the Chairperson of the Zamfara Widows Association and Alhaji Sa’idu Goshe who is their patron. According to the protesting women, they are living abnormal lives because a life without a husband is incomplete (I think I can relate with that). They complained: “Many of us cannot afford two meals in a day because there are no men to support us.”
According to the patron, the association has over 8,000 women, 5,380 of which are divorcees, 2,200 widows, 1,200 orphans and 80 others, all of whom were scouting for men to marry (this is galagaju!). He also stated that the women needed assistance to buy basic household items such as beds, mattresses and other materials which they need to move to their husband houses (ah! You better provide jobs for these women, even the average Nigerian man no dey smile o! Economy dey bite everyone and dis one wey Nigerian men do not want any woman as a liability, e go hard small o!)
Goshe then appealed to the commission to assist the association in screening suitors for the women. The screening would determine the health status, source of income (Nigerian ladies pray for hardworking men but do not return greetings from bricklayers and mechanics…lol) and their ability to maintain and sustain a family. Nigerian men, over to you (and don’t feel yourself o!)
