The All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter, has lauded its members for the peaceful conduct of yesterday’s party primaries, which produced candidates for each of the 32 state constituencies.

The Hon. Lumumba Adeh-led congress committee from the National Headquarters of the APC, in collaboration with the state executive team of the party, conducted what has been described as the best party primaries in the political history of the state.

In a statement issued yesterday by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, APC attributed the success of exercise to the priority given to internal democracy in the party and the desire to convince the whole world of the readiness of the broom party to drive the desirous change in the country.

“We have had many party primaries and congresses conducted in the past, in Oyo State, by other political parties in which residents would usually bear the brunt as a result of violence and witch-hunting in the hands of thugs sponsored by different camps. But in our own case, an atmosphere of peace and tranquility was sustained throughout the state,” the statement said.

It added: “From Ibadan to Oke-Ogun, Oyo to Ogbomosho and the rest, no single case of violence or protest was recorded. This was an eloquent testimony that APC is a peace-loving party which has to be fully supported by the electorate in the 2015 general elections.”

Oyo APC assured the general public of its commitment to the sustenance of peace in the state, warning those planning to re-introduce violence, lawlessness and impunity into the pacesetter state to have a rethink because the masses would resist them.
