Gunmen Attack Adamawa State Governor’s Convoy

Reports reaching us indicate that the convoy of Adamawa State governor Murtala Nyako was presumably attacked by Boko Haram insurgents. The governor was returning from Madagali and Michika, the towns assaulted by Boko Haram on Wednesday, to assess the level of damage and commiserate with local residents.
The incident occurred at Shuwari area of the State. A number of vehicles were allegedly hit by the militants' bullets in the course of the attack, but the governor abandoned his official car and escaped unhurt in one of the escort vehicles.
Other sources say he was whisked away from the venue of the attack under the heavy guard of security personnel to prevent further attack.
However, some sources have contradicted the story, claiming the facts were misinterpreted. According to the sources, people started to panic upon sighting a large number of Nigerian Army troops who were redeploying from Borno to Adamawa State, thinking the men in the military uniform were actually Boko Haram terrorists.
Governor Nyako's convoy was diverted back to Yola after noticing the movement, and there was no shooting.
Naij.com are presently checking the facts. More details shortly. Help us update this news, send in your photographs and reports by pressing the link below and filling out all necessary boxes. Please, provide your e-mail address so we could contact you.
