Kano State Governor cuts salaries of politicians

Following the current economic crisis in the state, The governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje has directed the reducing of wages and allowances of political office holders by 50%.

The politicians, whose salaries are in trouble, are the governor, Deputy Governor, Hafiz Abubakar, all the 13 commissioners, special advisers and others.

Ganduje announced on June 19, that the state administration will no longer give free food and drinks during Ramadan fast as had been the practice in the previous times.

The governor speaking while inaugurating the new commissioners lamented that the state and the nation are facing cash crunch and need to cut the pay of officials and appointees.

He said the action was part of the forfeit he and others will fund for the survival of the administration.

Ganduje assured residents that when things get better politicians will be rewarded for their losses.
