Five Killed In Lagos Fuel Tanker Fire


Fire and explosion from a fuel tanker has killed at least five residents and destroyed many homes in  Apapa area of Lagos State .
The tanker, a 33,000 liters PMS conveyor lost control after its brakes failed and somersaulted, causing a wild explosion along the Berger bus stop, near Mile 2.
General Manager of the Lagos Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Olufemi Osanyintolu told our correspondent that the fire began at about 10pm Tuesday night.
He said his agency   immediately activated all its rescue units and alerted affiliate agencies to ensure the fire was cortailed before serious damage could be done.
Many residents also had severe injuries from the incident and have been taken for medical care at hospitals in the area.
