Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the Olowo Eko,Omo Erin jogun ola, the chairman ofCouncil of Obas and chiefs in Lagosstate, is certainly not happy manright now The King's unhappiness is reported due to an unruly character exhibited by is closest aide, oneMr. Kunle Adebayo, aka Mountain and his grandson, who allegedly have been stealing the king's money for a long period of time.
According to source, each time the king sent them an errand to his room, or clean his room, they will steal from the pile of foreign currencies
beside his bed. This development the king was not aware for a very long time until a trap was set for two of
them. The first to fall in the trap was Kunle Adebayo, who for many years, had been the Kings chef and
closet aide. Oba Akiolu deliberately left $750 in his pocket of his sokoto, (trousers) and instructed Kunle Adebayo to go and pick the clothe for his dry cleaner. By the time Adebayo came downstairs and the king called him to check the trousers, the $750 was already missing.
After much pressure from the king, Kunle Adebayo confessed to the theft of $750. He also confessed to have stolen more money before then.
The King subsequently handed him over to the police. He was later release after several weeks
owing to pressure from prominent indigene of Lagos, whom Adebayo has contracted to plead on his behalf. It was gathered that, though the king ordered the release of Kunle Adebayo, but seized his uncompleted building in Ajah Lagos, which the king believes was built using his stolen money.
Adebayo was not only the culprit. To. follow suit was Oba Akiolu's grandson, identified as Ajasa, a teenager. He is said to have been residing with
the king since 2003, when the king was crowned.
Ajasa was barely 7years when when the king took him to the palace. Ajasa is the second son of Oba Akiolu's favourite daughter, Amina Ajasa.
Recently, Ajasa began an extravaganza life, lavishing money on expensive items. After through investigation and subsequent confession by Ajasa, he confessed to have been stealing the Kings money for quite a long time. He stole
money form the king's bedroom each time he was sent an errand to the room. Investigation further revealed that Kunle Adebayo's behaviour shocked the king in disbelief, because the king had so much trusted
Adebayo. Adebayo was said to have be with the king for more than a decade. He started as the
King's chef and later graduated to his closest aide. Even when the king was with anyone, no matter how highly ranked the person could be, only Adebayo could go in to see the king or take errand to and fro the King. Adebayo has tremendously benefited from his closeness to the king. Most cash gifts were given to him by the
King's high profile friends
When the King personal Assistant, Mr. Ibrahim was contacted, he said, " I can't confir or deny the anything becuase I am not given such authority to do so bye, bye."
