The Executive Secretary of National
Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Julius A. Okojie has labeled the
European American University, which gave them the honourary doctorate degree
awards to the daughter of former Lagos State Governor and the National leader
of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaja Folashade
Tinubu-Ojo, Shade Okoya, the wife of billionaire business man, Chief Rasaq
Okoya, Mrs. Sally Mbanefo, the DG of Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation
(NTDC), and others in Lagos as fake.
The awards which were given on
August 23, at University of Lagos by the purported European American
University.
However, investigation has revealed
that there was no university by the name European American University.
The NUC boss described the award as
academic corruption, and called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
to investigate the promoter of the phony university and the award recipients.
Okojie said “Imagine a university
awarding honourary professorship, nowhere in the world will you find such.
“This is an academic corruption and
the EFCC should investigate all those involved.”
