Barack Obama was delivering a speech on healthcare reform on Monday, October 21, at the Rose Garden of the White House, when he turned around just in time to save the pregnant lady behind him from falling.
In the video segment below, the woman in a red dress can be seen to become unsteady. The next moment the President, sensing a disturbance, reaches out to help her.
"That's what happens when I talk too long," he jokes, and the crowd applauds.
The woman, identified as Karmel Allison, later tweeted her thanks to Obama, and told 'the 'world' she is all right.
She was invited to the event as a prospective Affordable Care Act beneficiary as a diabetic.
She explained to the journalists that she is 20 weeks pregnant, and hadn't had that much to drink that morning to avoid the urge to go to the bathroom during the President's speech.
"And as the sun hit me, I got a little lightheaded," she says.
All's well that ends well.
