Man in jail for raping 11-year-old Down Syndrome girl

Rape crime is on the increase and needs to be curbed.
A 27-year old man whose urge for sexual satisfaction led him to raping an 11-year-old girl who is suffering from the Down Syndrome disorder, will spend this coming Christmas in prison custody pending the hearing of his case which has been fixed for the 21st of January, 2015.
The man, Austin Okonkwo, allegedly committed the crime in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, and was charged to the Evboriaria Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ikpoba-Okha, Benin, where the presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Frank Idiake, did not waste anytime in remanding him in prison, refusing to grant him bail.

According to the Nation Newspaper, the police prosecutor, Aigbedion Obakpolor informed the court that the offence was committed on November 29.
Unprintable words were used on accused when the victim was presented before the court as people could not hold back tears at the actions of the accused.
A relative of the victim who pleaded anonymity after the court sitting, said the accused took the girl to his room where he committed the act.
It was not until the next day when she cried and complained of pains in her private part, that the deed was uncovered and she reportedly told her parent what Austin did to her.
