Former Minister of State for Defence and PDP Lagos gubernatorial aspirant, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has refuted claims by a group called Lagos Integrity Watch, accusing him of attacking Chief Bode George for partisanship in the recently concluded PDP ward congresses in the state.
Senator Obanikoro, in a statement on Wednesday, by Ohimai Amaize, his Special Adviser on Media Strategy, disclaimed the report noting that it was a clear ploy to destabilize the Lagos State PDP and cause disunity and disaffection in the party in the run up to the Lagos 2015 gubernatorial elections.
"At no time did Senator Obanikoro engage or accuse Chief Bode George of partisanship or interference in the Lagos PDP ward congresses. Social media comments or opinions by individuals speaking for themselves do not in anyway represent the personal views of Senator Obanikoro", he said.
"We are well aware that this is a critical time in the history of Lagos PDP and hired agents of propaganda will want to seize the opportunity to wreak havoc. Senator Obanikoro acknowledges the great role that Chief Bode Gorge is playing to foster unity, equity and fair play as the father of PDP in Lagos State," Senator Obanikoro said.
Senator Obanikoro reiterated his conviction that there is no crisis in Lagos PDP as all major stakeholders in the party are aware of the fact that a disunited Lagos PDP is in nobody's interest. He urged PDP party faithfuls to unite behind the party leadership to wrest power from the elitist and corruption-ridden government of APC in Lagos State.
