About a week ago, a teenager called Michael Brown was shot dead by a Police Officer in the U.S.
Now, people are protesting against the injustice situation and want
the Police Officer involved in the murder to be brought to justice.
Many hoped to gain some justice in regards to the fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown, but were left disappointed.
According to E! News; a grand jury chose not to indict Darren Wilson,
the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown on a street in
Ferguson, in August, which was followed by multiple nights of racially
charged clashes between police and demonstrators protesting the killing.
According to NBC News; shots were fired outside police headquarters as the decision touched off an immediate and angry response.
Bob McCulloch, the St. Louis County prosecutor,
said that the grand jury had found no probable cause for any of the
charges it considered against Darren Wilson, which included first-degree
murder and the lesser charge of manslaughter.
“We are profoundly disappointed that the killer of our child will not face the consequence of his actions,” Michael Brown’s parents, Lesley McSpadden and Michael Brown, Sr., said in a statement.
“While we understand that many others share our pain, we ask that
you channel your frustration in ways that will make a positive change.
We need to work together to fix the system that allowed this to happen.
Join with us in our campaign to ensure that every police officer working
the streets in this country wears a body camera.
“We respectfully ask that you please keep your protests peaceful.
Answering violence with violence is not the appropriate reaction. Let’s
not just make noise, let’s make a difference.”
Saddened by the grand jury’s decision, a number of celebs, including Rihanna, Katy Perry, LeBron James and many more, took to social media to voice their concern with the unrest in Ferguson:
