President Jonathan, Wife Check Into German Hospital

We just learnt that President
Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience
Jonathan, today checked in at a hospital in
Germany.
Last night, Mr. Jonathan had abruptly flown out of
Abuja ostensibly to attend a Summit on peace
and security in Africa that is organized by the
French government. Several ministers and service
chiefs accompanied the president to the airport
for the late night flight, but only a handful of
officials traveled on the actual flight.
A reliable source at the Presidency told
SaharaReporters that, contrary to the impression
created that the trip was exclusively for the
French-sponsored security summit, Mr. Jonathan
and his wife will undergo tests and receive
treatment in the same German hospital where his
wife spent several months last year.
Our source added that the Nigerian president had
been feeling unwell since returning from a recent
trip to London where he was hospitalized for a
serious stomach-related ailment. SaharaReporters
had disclosed that the president fell seriously ill
after a bout of bingeing on alcohol in celebration
of his birthday.
Our source revealed that plans were made for the
president to receive medical attention in Germany
after Mr. Jonathan suddenly fell ill last weekend in
his home-state of Bayelsa during a visit there. The
president's sudden illness almost led to his
emergency evacuation to Germany, our
Presidency source said.
Mrs. Jonathan is also expected to receive follow-up
medical treatment in the German hospital.
Mr. Jonathan is due in Paris for the summit billed
for December 6th and 7th. But our source stated
that Mr. Jonathan's ability to make the trip will
depend on the prognosis of his condition and the
advice of the German doctors who will be treating
him.
SaharaReporters sources stated that Mr. Jonathan
has had recurring abdominal troubles in recent
weeks. Mr. Jonathan is notorious as a heavy
drinker of alcohol, especially strong spirits.

THE OCTOPUS PRINCIPLE: THE KEYS TO MULTITASKING

Multitasking is a difficult skill to master. Studies have shown that trying to handle multiple responsibilities often leads to inefficiency. However, there are some key principles to multitasking that one must always remember to ensure maximum productivity and effectiveness; namely discipline, commitment, scheduling and prioritising.

Growing up in rural Madziva and Chesa in Zimbabwe, I have memories of my mother waking up before dawn to sweep the yard and at the sometime, she would be stoking a fire in the kitchen, and by kitchen I mean atypical round grass hut like those found in a rural setting- (kumusha, ekhaya) in order to prepare breakfast before everyone else arose. This would be followed by washing the children, preparation of breakfast and the relaying of instructions to the herd boys who would milk the cows and then take the cattle and goats out to pasture.

The principle of multitasking starts in one’s formative years as one observes the multiple duties that must be fulfilled by a primary caregiver, in my case, my mother. Multitasking can arise from an inadequacy in terms of manpower (not having means to hire staff) or not having the resources to deploy in order to accomplish the goals set out for each day. We have many roles to play in outlives and there is a need to effectively play each part to yield the best result in each instance.

The reason I called this article The Octopus Principle is because the octopus is a creature with 8 arms that is extremely intelligent and skillful with all its 8 arms, as it swims, hunts, eats, cleans itself and deters predators.
African people at home and in the Diaspora multitask out of necessity rather than as a challenge or experiment. They have multiple roles and responsibilities but have limited resources. Whereas under different circumstances people may have to multitask because they are multi-talented and driven and want to be able to pursue all of their passions and goals.

Therefore when one has many tasks to complete each day it is important to plan ahead and ensure that one’s day is appropriately scheduled to give each aspect the required attention.  Be aware of your skills and how they can best be deployed to your advantage. Thus one of the critical elements of multitasking is being aware of what commitments must be fulfilled. For example in a home environment a mother must care for the children and manage her home. When I was growing up most mothers were in charge of almost everything because their husbands were migrant workers working for the mines in South Africa or Zimbabwe or as teachers and policeman all away from their homeland they only came back monthly, on a quarterly basis and some even after one or two years. There are cases of men who would father children and return after two or three years and meet children whose births they did not witness. So these mothers had to take up the responsibility of raising their children“alone” and still fulfil their other social responsibilities. In a modern setting the responsibilities may not be the same but the skill of multitasking is still necessary.
Plan what resources are required to fulfil your commitments accordingly and effectively. However, you cannot do it all on your own- learn to delegate and prioritise for the day, month or year and review at appropriate intervals, whether daily, quarterly or bi-annually.

Some things that may be routine and everyday activities can be easily delegated to an assistant or other people in your team. In a family you can delegate to children, aunts and uncles or other trusted family members. Many of us are scared to delegate because we don’t believe that things will be done the way that we would do them on our own. There must be trust and clear communication of what you need to be done. Don’t say too little or too much. Just be clear and emphasise the objectives to be reached. In such cases prioritise by choosing what has less risk of being compromised, in case something goes wrong.  I used to find it very difficult to send a driver to pick up my children from school because I always thought that should something go wrong I would like myself or my wife to be accountable for their safety. I rarely sent a driver and this informed my priorities. However we all have different priorities depending on what we are engaged in. For example, I would pick up the kids from school or other activities but also when business delegates came into the country for meetings I would make it a point to personally welcome them at the airport and I would set aside time to take them around, be it to a meeting or for meals and leisure time. I found that this made the deliberations and negotiations more pleasant and go smoothly as the investors or delegates felt welcome and appreciated. These days, with fast trains and other technology, it is rare to find a chairman or director waiting at the airport for a business associate, with good reason. Children, loved ones, investments, financial matters and health issues cannot be delegated as they are top priorities.

In conclusion my friends, I am the octopus and my 8 arms are:
·       Telecommunications
·       Business consulting
·       Retail trading
·       Philanthropy
·       Community development
·       Public service
·       Mentorship and
·       Family.

I hope this will be helpful to you, giving you insight on how I manage to multitask and that you can learn from it. We can expand on this in the coming weeks.

T-Billz Destroys Photographer’s Camera At Sound Sultan’s Birthday Party

Barely a week after their widely celebrated wedding, Tiwa Savage‘s husband, Tunji ‘T-Billz’ Balogun is in the news for attacking a photo-journalist. For allegedly taking pictures against his will, the 323 Entertainment boss snatched the camera in front of several witnesses and crashed it in on the floor damaging the lens and other accessories in the camera. The incident, which happened last Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Façade Thai Restaurant, Bishop Aboyade Cole, Victoria Island, Lagos raised a few eyebrows as the photographer and some guests challenged and condemned T-Bill’s actions, while querying the photographer for shooting without permission.. Reports from eyewitnesses say T-billz who was at the venue the birthday of musician Sound Sultan ‘angrily attacked the photo-journalist, snatching his camera and breaking it for taking pictures of him‘. When contacted for his side of the story, the photo-journalist Victor Obot also known as Elejo denied directing the camera at T-billz. ‘I wasn’t even pointing the camera at him. The camera was directed at another guest who was sitting next to him, and then all of a sudden, he snatched my camera from me and smashed it.’ We’re told other guests at the party strongly condemned the talent manager’s actions. One source told NET that former Kennis Music artiste, Azadus was infuriated by the incident and was forced to confront one of T-billz’s boys who threatened to beat up Elejo. Speaking to our correspondent in a telephone conversation Azadus said ‘From what I gathered, T-Billz had warned Elejo (photo-journalist) not to take snapshots of him. Much later, I saw T-Billz grabbing the camera from him and then the camera fell on the floor in the process. Although I do not endorse T-Billz’s action, but I think the Elejo should have respected his wish and not try to take snap shots of him’ When our correspondent reached out to T-Billz by telephone, he however denied destroying the camera. He said, ‘It is not true. You can go ahead and cook up whatever story you like. It is not going to shake me in anyway’, and then he angrily hung up. Sound Sultan who was the celebrant however refused to confirm or deny the story. ‘I do not wish to comment on this matter. Thank you‘, he said when NET tried to get his side of the story. Another witness, Tomi, a PR consultant who works with Sound Sultan told NET that she’s been trying to reach out to Elejo in order to resolve the issue amicably. ‘On the day of the incident, myself, Sound Sultan and Don T were trying to come in between, but they (T-Billz and Elejo) both wouldn’t listen. I invited him to the party, so, just feel he should have reached out to us before going to the press. The next day I still called him and asked him to let it go, but he seems to be insistent on doing what he must’. Multiple sources confirm that the photographer and T-Billz actually have a long-standing working relationship. ‘Elejo has done several jobs for Tiwa and T-Billz. As a matter of fact, he goes to their house at 1004 Flats in Victoria Island to meet up with them sometimes, so he is not a stranger to T-Billz’, said a source. Elejo confirmed the once cordial relationship to our correspondent. ‘For the jobs I did for him months ago, he is still owing me the sum of N150,000 and so I do not understand why he is being hostile to me.’ T-Billz has made no secret of his contempt for photographers in recent times. For some reason, at his recently held wedding to Tiwa Savage, photographers and recording devices were barred from the main hall. A guest at the wedding even got his phone smashed by security for trying to take a snap shot of the groom.

http://informationng.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/1488188_.jpg
What is news however is the revelation of what caused the marriage break-up.
Reports have emerged that her unclad photo that went viral had a huge role to play in the collapse of the once happy marriage between Iwuji and her international businessman husband, Mr. Juwon Lawal.
Mr Lawal was said to have learnt that his wife, Uche, was having a secret affair with a top banker and he also discovered some BBM messages exchanged between her and her lover boy senior banker.
Sadly, some of the BBM chats included unclad pictures of the actress, which she allegedly sent to her randy and married lover boy leaked.
A close source who doesn’t want her name mentioned, confirmed the marriage crash, claiming that Uche Iwuji had always been unlucky with men, probably due to her way of life.
It would be recalled that Uche had earlier denied that her marriage to Mr Lawal had crashed
