World Ebola fears grow with Europe and Asia on alert
Fears that the west African Ebola outbreak could spread to other continents grew with European and Asian countries on alert and a leading medical charity warning the epidemic was out of control.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said the crisis gripping Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone would only get worse and warned there was no overarching strategy to handle the world's worst outbreak of the disease.
US Christian charity Samaritan's Purse was temporarily withdrawing its non-essential staff from Liberia, it said, citing regional "instability and ongoing security issues".

Several passers-by on the street below the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin have been taking pictures of guests at the hotel as they use the toilets in their room, prompting the hotel to put up notices which read: ‘Please be careful, not only the monkeys are watching", pending when they fix the blunder
According to reports, the architect who designed the restaurant area in the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin thought the toilets should be placed next to the floor-to-ceiling windows, despite the building being only ten storeys tall.
The hotel, which offers great views of the Berlin Zoo, unfortunately also now offers jobless pedestrians an eye-ful if they look up.

10 year old girl found wearing explosive device apparatus in Katsina
The DG of the National Information Center, Mr Mike Omeri said this while briefing news men at the National Information Center;
"Security forces on Tuesday, July 29, at about 10pm along Zaria Road, Tudun Wada of Funtua Metropolis, arrested three suspects believed to be members of the Boko Haram sect. The three suspects consisted a male named Iliya Haliru, and two females – Zainab Musa, 18, and Hadiza Musa, 10. The three suspects were arrested in a Honda CRV. When they were directed to disembark for security check, 10-year-old Hadiza was discovered to have been strapped with an explosive belt. And immediately, Iliya and Zainab made attempt to escape with the car but were later blocked by other concerned Nigerians and subsequently arrested. The police successfully unstrapped the explosive.”
He appealed to parents to monitor their wards so they do not get initiated into such evil acts.

Former minister and one of the leaders of the #BringBackOurGirls, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has raised an alarm on the increasing use of teenage girls as suicide bombers by the Boko Haram insurgent group.
On Monday, two female suicide bombers struck in different parts of Kano, killing and injuring many on a day Muslim faithful thronged the prayer grounds to observe the Eid-el-Fitri. Another female bomber struck on Sunday as well.

You want to be normal?
Fine. That means you don’t want to do anything great in your life.
Many of us spend the majority of our
lives striving to be “normal” and “fit in” with the crowd. When we hear
the word “crazy”, we shudder. We find it synonymous with “negative”,
“dangerous”, or “bad”. After all, who wants to be different and stand
out? Who wants to be the cause of opposition and criticism? Who wants to
be laughed at and mocked by others? Who wants to be “crazy”? I know I
didn’t!
The problem: It takes a bit of “crazy” to do great things in life.
There is nothing normal about achieving
great feats – if it was normal, we wouldn’t be so shocked when they
happen. There is nothing normal about following great dreams when those
around you (sometimes that includes YOU) doubt you, laugh at you, mock
you, criticize you, and label you an “underdog”. Look around you – there
is nothing normal about renewing your mind, developing self-discipline,
and becoming a great vessel of love and service. There is nothing
amazing about “normal”.
Civil Servants question Okonjo-Iweala over Alleged N1.8 Trillion Salary Expenditure
The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) yesterday, questioned the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, about the alleged N1.8 trillion spent yearly on the salaries of public service employees.
ASCSN addressed the minister via a
statement, asking the minister to explain why the large amount was being
spent on salaries. The civil servants also requested that Okonjo-Iweala should disclose to Nigerians, exactly how much of that amount was actually spent on the salaries, Vanguard reports.
The association is also alleging that
the staff strength of the Public Service is about 870,000, and not the
1.2 million declared by the minister.
“No Survivors in Air Algerie Crash” – French President
French President, Francois Hollande, announced today, Friday July 25th, that there are no survivors in the crash of the Air Algerie flight, which disappeared from the radar, and then crashed en route to Algiers from Burkina Faso.
There were 110 passengers and six crew members on board.
Hollande also revealed that one of the
aircraft’s black boxes has been found in the wreckage, and would be
taken for investigation, abc news reports.
According to reports, the pilot had requested permission to change course because of bad weather.

administration’s commitment to credible and peaceful elections in 2015.
Jonathan
gave the reassurance while addressing Senators and members of the
diplomatic corps who joined him for the breaking of Ramadan fast at the
Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He emphasised that the 2015 General Elections would be so free, fair and peaceful that the whole world would be surprised.
“I know that one thing that is dear to your hearts is what the elections in this country will look like next year.
“But
let me use this unique opportunity to reassure you. I am conveying this
to my brothers, your heads of government, that our elections next year
will be free and fair.’’

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday met behind closed-doors with

The meeting is believed to be Jonathan’s way of intervening in the
impeachment process that the lawmakers had instituted against the state
Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, who met with the President over the weekend

worst criminals in history were good men in society who either
voluntarily or by virtue of circumstance, went rogue. We all know the
award winning, chairman of the editorial board of the Nigerian Guardian,
Dr Reuben Abati, our guy, a staunch truth shooter and government critic
bar none.
But when Reuben was sucked into the Jonathan Government, Lord have mercy!
One can only imagine what Reuben is up to today: conspiring, orchestrating, plotting and conniving. There is nowhere where you will not find Reuben or pick his dangerous scent. Reuben works between party lines, he sneaks up on activists, media editors; selling his paymasters' wares in the last places you expect. If you are an activist or politician, you will know precisely what I am talking about.
If the unbelievable story can be written, Reuben wrote it; if the unimaginable can be invented and spun, Reuben spun it. If it can be blown-up, Reuben is blowing it...
